I came a cross a chart titled the Covenant Line in Genesis and I was kind of struck because I never given a lot of thought about the subject before. You can see Ishmael is basically cut off as far as the covenant line goes and we know, in fact, the God did say that the descendants of Ishmael would be great nations and that there would be many, but he never did say that they would be His people and He would be their God like he did with the descendants of Isaac. So many times I've heard Muslims say that they are the ones to receive the inheritance from Abraham. This of course is not true, in fact, the inheritance that came from Abraham was set up by God himself and not by Abraham. I do not even fill that the descendants of Ishmael even have the right to say that they worship the God of Abraham.
